Letter From Father Wissam Akiki:
Dear family of Saint Joseph Church,
I hope you receive this email while enjoying the best of health and happiness and you enjoyed your summer and vacations.
I have been honored by his Excellency Bishop Elias Zaidan to be assigned to serve this beautiful community. I am coming to serve the altar of the Lord and to serve all of you with an open heart. I am grateful to God for being able to serve you and to all the priests who have served this church for so many years, especially, my dear brother Father Ghattas. I am here to continue the wonderful work that has been accomplished.
I consider my work here as a challenge full of promise and excitement. With God and with your help nothing is impossible. Together, we will build our church, the church needs every one of us; we will work and pray together as one family, and if at any time, there is anything that upsets someone, please do not hesitate to talk to me directly, do not complain about it, but come to me and tell me and I promise to listen to all of you, and do my best to have a Happy and a Holy parish.
I am thankful that I am getting to know more and more of you as time goes by. And I hope to see many more familiar and new faces at Mass.
I will promise you that I am going to spend my time with you, attending to the sick and dying, being at the hospital for birth, death and sickness, praying with you, leading you, standing beside you. Any problems you have make sure that I am there for you. Everyone is welcome at Saint Joseph Church. I will have no favorites, all are equal. I will be a guide, a joy, and an example for you. I will lead by example, and my Motto is going to be “Serve the Lord Joyfully.”
Please be assured of my prayers for you and your loved ones.
Father Wissam G. Akiki
